Mad River Twp. home destroyed

A fire, in a home on Rebert Pike in Mad River Twp., destroyed the two-story home with an attached garage Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009. The call for help was reported around 9 a.m. by the homeowner who told dispatchers that half the house was engulfed.

House fire on May St.

Members of the Springfield Twp. Fire Department battle their way into a residence at 2757 May Street Sunday, June 5 as flames erupt from the doors and windows of the house. The resident, said he was sleeping when he woke up and the house was filled with black smoke. The house was severely damaged in the blaze.

Boy rescued from tree

A six-year-old boy climbed his way to the top of a 30-foot tree at his grandmother's Bethel Township home Saturday Nov. 7 His family, who discovered him moments later peering over the branches, called Bethel Township Fire Department to come rescue the boy. Mad River/Enon Fire and Rescue brought a ladder truck to the Lammes Lane address to assist in the rescue of the boy who was unharmed.

Southern Ave. house gutted by fire

Two families were displaced by a fire that gutted a Southern Avenue home Thursday, Oct. 1. A fire was reported just after 8 p.m. Thursday at 405 Southern Avenue. Firefighters responded and were able to quickly control the “very fast and dynamic-moving” fire, said battalion Chief Kevin Sprinkle. There were no injuries.

Bus catches fire in Springfield

Members of Springfield Fire Division responded to a vehicle fire in the engine compartment of a bus transporting children to the Precious Gifts Day Care on Friday, Sept. 11 at the intersection Yellow Springs Street and Innisfallen Avenue The children were all removed from the bus safely and the fire was extinguished before it could spread to the rest of the bus.

Boat catches on fire at Buck Creek

Moorefield Twp. firefighters and a state watercraft officer worked to extinquish a boat fire at Buck Creek State Park on Friday, July 17, 2009. The boat's three passengers jumped into the reservoir after a fuel line rupture ignited their dual-exhaust speedboat. They were rescued uninjured by another boater, Terry Hiles, who was fishing with his grandson Trevor.
